3 charged after Indiana cave rescue A 21-year-old Indiana man was rescued this morning from a cave in southern Harrison County, Ind., about seven hours after he fell about 15 feet into an underground shaft. Mark Farmer, a conservation officer with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, said the man was with two friends caving on private property in a remote area when he fell around midnight. Their sport utility vehicle had become stuck, and that’s when they went into two caves. The man who fell was Garrett Jones, 21, of Georgetown, Ind. He suffered from the beginnings of hypothermia, so he needed to be warmed before he could be lifted out. He suffered only minor injuries in the fall. Rescue workers dropped heat packs down, trying to keep him warm because he had been in the cave overnight, Farmer said. Full Article

If you read the article these bozos spray painted the cave, removed a formation, and tresspassed on private property. The local officials are "considering" charging them. Hmm I remember one post not too long ago where a fellow was charged and fined big bucks for just going into a cave he was told was OK to take a look at by his hired guide. It appears there are different levels of law enforcement for caves eh?
Regardless I do hope the publicly make an example out of these buffoons and let the public know trashing caves is not tolerated.

Conservation officers arrested three men from cave rescueAP April 30, 2007 LACONIA, Ind. - Indiana conservation officers have arrested three men who were exploring a cave in southern Indiana. One of the men was slightly injured. The conservation officers' cave rescue team responded early yesterday to Small Mouth Cave on private property near Laconia, about 23 miles southwest of Louisville, Kentucky. Authorities say 21-year-old Garrett Jones of Georgetown had fallen about 15 feet from a ledge about one-quarter mile inside the cave. He was complaining of pain in his ankle but he declined treatment. Jones and two Louisville men who were with him were arrested on charges of criminal trespass. The men also face charges of cave trespass, removal of cave formations and vandalism to a cave. Article
