Residents' group gaining support for provincial parkAbigail Cukier, Stoney Creek Stoney Creek News (Ontario) Aug 10, 2007 A move to create a provincial park in upper Stoney Creek is picking up steam as the size of the residents' group grows. The group is also collecting signatures from neighbours to petition a proposed road and call for a passive park. "Our homes were built over this land and weren't ever told," says Karen Priebe, a new member of the group. "For them to build a new road on that is ludicrous. They just want to build. That's all their concern is." Ms. Priebe lives on Richdale Drive. Her home backs onto the area proposed for the new road. It also skirts the protected Eramosa Karst. Before the Ministry of Natural Resources designated the karst a provincially significant Area of Natural and Scientific Interest (ANSI) in 2003, development was slated for the area, roughly bounded by Highland, Rymal and Upper Mount Albion roads and Second Road West.
