The Weekend America program had a nice story about Roy Powers, the ACA, Jerry Fant, bat conservation, and cave grating today. If you would like to listen to the program or see a few pictures, go to weekendamerica.publicradio.org/programs/index_20060805.htmlThe story is at the bottom of this page. Do I see some people there that I know who participate on this forum? Jim Coke

Cool link Jim. Roy is quite the character and the interview was interesting even with sound only! The gravely voice is unmistakeable. I wonder how long he'll stay retired?

Thanks for NPR Cave Gating link Jim. That looked to be the recent American Cave Conservation Association pit clean up conducted at Saltpetre pit in Kentucky. I recognized the vertical trash hauling system that Roy and Jerry talked about building. The only cavers I recognized in the photo's were Cave gating guru Roy Powers and his sidekick Jerry Fant. Roy retire this year?? Doubtful. Here's the link to the pit clean up story. VOLUNTEERS CART STOVES AND TIRES FROM PULASKI CAVE
