Big Bird Fossil Found in CubaHavana, Jan 11 (Prensa Latina) A group scientifically exploring caves in Matanzas, Cuba, has astonished the Islands scientific community with the discovery of fossil remains of a giant owl. As reported by Haciendo Radio, the discovery by the Matanzas Speleology Group is considered an important source of evidence of the countrys fauna and food chain over the last 20,000 years. The fossilized "eagle owl" was a bird of prey with small talons and a large beak, better adapted for running than flight, which made it easy prey for other species, thus reducing its population.
