A RESCUE operation was under way last night in the Yorkshire Dales to rescue a caver from a pothole. The Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Team was called out to Dow Cave at Hag Dyke, near Kettlewell in Upper Wharfedale, following reports of a 14-stone man suffering from exhaustion who was struggling to get out of the system. North Yorkshire Police said the man was being assisted out by a rescue team. He was said to be exhausted but there were no serious concerns about his condition. The site is a regular scene of rescues. More than 100 are estimated to have been carried out in the system, which is linked to Providence Pot through the notorious Dowbergill Passage.
