Rescue mission for Dales caverMike Waites A RESCUE operation was under way last night in the Yorkshire Dales to rescue a caver from a pothole. The Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Team was called out to Dow Cave at Hag Dyke, near Kettlewell in Upper Wharfedale, following reports of a 14-stone man suffering from exhaustion who was struggling to get out of the system. North Yorkshire Police said the man was being assisted out by a rescue team. He was said to be exhausted but there were no serious concerns about his condition. The site is a regular scene of rescues. More than 100 are estimated to have been carried out in the system, which is linked to Providence Pot through the notorious Dowbergill Passage. 29 May 2006 Yorkshire Post
