New animal species found in Israel
A new species of invertebrate animals that have been heretofore unknown to science have been discovered in Israel, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem announced Tuesday.
The new species were revealed in a cave that was uncovered as a result of excavations in a quarry near the central Israeli city of Ramle.
Hebrew University scientists who examined the cave said they discovered "a new and unique ecosystem," including previously unknown aquatic and terrestrial species.
Details of the new species will be revealed in full at a university press conference on Wednesday
