Details on this are slim and are gathered word of mouth from an assortment of rescue team folks, so if anyone on here has more information, feel free to correct or update as needed. A cave rescue callout occurred this past weekend when an uninjured male was unable to climb out of a pit on Green Mountain (Alabama). The HEMSI HART Team and HCRU responded. Two men had climbed into the pit hand over hand (apparently using some type of rope) and one did not have the strength to pull himself back up. Some personnel were sent to haul him out, but it turned out there wasn't enough manpower to do this. Plan B was started which was to give the fellow a quick ascending lesson for a frog and let him climb up himself. This was successful and he was out at about 7:00 p.m. I've not seen the name of the cave mentioned anywhere as yet. (In defense of the victim, he was prepared with food, water, extra clothing and light and was merely waiting on assistance.)
