BCI to co-sponsor mine gating workshopPosted: 1/27/2006 Event Date: 4/24/2006 This class, to be held in Bishop CA, is designed to give participants hands on experience constructing high quality bat-friendly gates that will provide human protection as well as continued access to mines by bats and other wildlife. This workshop will cover mine-safety related issues, gate construction, and monitoring. Location: Bishop, CA Dates: April 24th to 28th, 2006. Class Size: 8-12 participants; Depending on interest, need, and partnerships, we may schedule another workshop in the region in the spring or fall 2006. Fee: To be determined by mid February based on finalizing sponsorships. Historically, gating workshops of this nature are $300 to $400. Head Instructor: Ed Winchester, Frontier Environmental Solutions. Co-sponsors: California Department of Conservation Forest Service Bureau of Land Management Additional sponsors are being sought. Logistics: Details are pending but should be finalized and posted by mid-February. Participants will be responsible for their own food and lodging.
