Event blends art and science March 19, 2006 Manitowac Herald (Wisconsin) HILBERT — Art and science will join hands Tuesday, April 21 through Sunday, May 28 in "Living on the Edge of Our Common Ground," a celebration of the Niagara Escarpment. A series of activities is planned throughout Calumet County, keynoted by an environmental art exhibit at Main Street Art Works, Hilbert. Artists, poets, historians, and environmentalists will introduce the public to the history, geology, biology, and fragile beauty of the stony ledge just beneath their feet. The six-week event opens with music and art, and includes speakers, performances, hands-on-projects and tours of caves, cliffs and farms. It will close with a huge light projection show on a 60-foot cliff. Main Street Art Works in Hilbert is the central venue for the free activities. Other activities will take place throughout Calumet County including Hilbert High School, Hilbert; High Cliff State Park, Sherwood; Brillion Nature Center, Brillion; and Ledgeview Nature Center, Chilton. The event is co-sponsored by the art gallery and the regional Niagara Escarpment Resource Network.
