Not really caving gear related, but of interest to some cavers perhaps. Specialty soaps for cavers Jewelweed for Poison Ivy, Aloe for bumps and scrapes, Citronella for the long hikes to the caves, and our special SpeleoSoap, for when you *can't* go caving. www.sycamorecircle.com/specialtysoaps.html
Speleo-Soap You know who you are. You won't believe how great it smells! Take a shower, close your eyes, and transport yourself to any underground waterfalls you want, without leaving your home. (Leave your clothes on for a more authentic experience.) The great thing about this? You can adjust your water temperature and pressure NOTE: A portion of the proceeds from the sales of this soap are donated to the Southeastern Cave Conservancy (SCCi). $4.00 per bar.

Yeah, I think speleo-soap qualifies as caving gear. But of course that's coming from a caver who thinks a Hot Tub qualifies as an essential piece of cave gear. Also cavers could use some Liniment Soap.

With a personal hot tub and a bar of speleo soap who needs to go to a caving event anymore? This could be just the thing for aged cavers. ;D ;D ;D

;D ;D
There is nothing like relaxing in a hot tub after being out caving all day.
Best hot tub at a caving event? My vote has to go to the OTR set up...the super hot-hot tub, the regular hot tub, and the cold tub.

That's a nice hot tub! Now how can I convince hubby a Hot Tub DOES qualify as an essential piece of cave gear.

I was think about the Speleo-Soap, what I was thinking is what scent would go well with cave and a wood fired hot tub. Then I found it!!! Ben and Jerry's selling a room-spray that smells like waffle-cones in the oven. This is an arrestingly delicious smell, but I expect that if I sprayed it around my place, I'd actually get fat just by whiffing it. Link: store.benjerry.com/newacorosp.html

Hummm .... maybe my olfactory receptors are not working the same way as yours. LOL, the waffle cones scent, cavers and a hot tub does not quite go together to me.

After reading about it in the Duct Tape thread Speleo-Soap must be very special indeed. I want to try it too. ;D

I didn't realize how popular the Speleo-soap was going to be, but apparently it was a big hit at Convention. I want to check out these soaps too. Maybe the vendor will be doing business at the TAG Fall Cave-In.

I bought a bar of speleo-soap, and have the vendor's business card buried in my convention detritus. They are cavers from Ohio. Told me the story of how it came to be....I AM impressed.
Am going to give bars to all my friends who claim to be older than dirt.

Found out today, that, because of the high glycerin/oil content, Speleosoap melts in a closed car after 5 hours at about 85F. The moral of this story is: 1)keep the soap in a double ziplock while traveling, just in case. 2) If you are using it in a hot tub, you might not want to float it around, or perhaps just saw off a chunk to use.
My melted bar of Speleosoap is now in the bathroom, acting as an air-freshener. My car now smells like dirt. Yes, I'm using it to wash, too.

I want to check out these soaps too. Maybe the vendor will be doing business at the TAG Fall Cave-In. Guess we'll have to wait until Convention next year to try out the soaps. I called Pam Dopp and Speleo-Soap isn't registered as a vendor at TAG.
