This last Saturday was the fall meeting of the Williams canyon Project. www.wcp.coloradocaves.org/
The meeting was well attended ..........even Bill Tozer showed up. This is the meeting that kicks off the caving season for the project, which runs opposite the heavy tourist season of Cave of the Winds. During the spring and summer months we head for the hills as the snow melts, allowing access to the high alpine caves of the Rockies. In the Winter......well.....this is what is available locally.
Three trip leaders received partner status in the project this year. Congradulations go to Patricia Malone, LP Lawrence, and Jim Roach, all who are members of the Southern Colorado Mountain Grotto. (SoCoMoGro). We also had 4 or 5 new trustees added to the list along with most everyone else from last year.
Floyd Fernandez stepped up to take Jon Barker's spot as dig committee chair. I believe there were only a couple of dig applications submitted this meeting. Most were in Swirling mist, one in Huccas and one in Sniders.
All in all it was a rather quite but productive meeting with only a couple of rule changes being discussed. The most notable one was my proposel to change the quantity of trips required to keep your Breezeway status. We changed it from having to lead one each year to having to lead one within a two year period.
We ended the meeting with a short trip leader training class for our newest trustees. I'm hoping for a fun season in the canyon. Anyone wanting to check it out and go caving in the canyon.....give me a holler and we'll go do it to it.
