The 2006 trip sounds like a great trip Dwight! Do you have a ball park figure of the cost associated with the trip?
Please do post information concerning your fact finding trip when you return.

Thanks, I just wanted to have an idea of the cost to see if we might be able to afford it.

This sounds like a great trip, thanks for sharing the information!
One of the many memorable presentations during the International Exploration sessions at Convention this year was the China expedition, given by Pat Kambesis and Kevin Downey. The photos from the caves were fantastic and they commented several times on the hospitality and friendliness of the people they encountered while there.

Hey Dwight, I'll bet that was an interesting presentation. I believe I remember reading an article about China's karst terminology in an NSS News issue last year. I did see Dr. Yuan and his family briefly after the Convention banquet. I can understand why the distinction between types of trips needs to be clear. I think the red tape required for visitation to some international destinations is a deterrent to overseas travel for some cavers. Maybe it will improve in the future. It still sounds like it will be a great trip!
