EVENT: Committee On Speleology (China), Geological Academy of China and Leye Regional Tourism Bureau will host this caving trip exclusively for NSS members and their companies to explore caves in China’s Southwest, specifically the Tiankeng Groups in Leye County, Guangxi.
Named as International Base of Exploration & Scientific Study for Karst & Caves by International Union of Speleology (UIS), Leye County has world-class karst landscapes with magnificent Tiankengs (meaning Giant Pits) and other of karst caves. With its cluster of 26 grande Tiankengs in the Dashiwei Tiankeng Group, it is ranked number one in the world, and is known as “a metropolis of tiankeng in the world”.
During this 6-day expedition, you will stay in a teeming ecological and cultural village; explore Dashiwei, Chuandong, Baidong and other tiankengs, underground chambers and Bailang subterranean river system, plus vertical caving, rafting, hiking, sightseeing. This is also a great opportunity to meet and get to know other Chinese cavers.
