This is great news. We need all we can get around here. The snow pack may be high in the North part of the state, but the South end is severely lacking.

That's good news for the southeastern part of the country too. I think we need a few days with a hard freeze to take place. When I got home last Sunday night, after being out in TAG, I found a tick on me. That's unusual for January.

A hard freeze would help "de-tick " the TAG area. January is just way too early to be getting ticks.

'More' weeks of winter? We haven't hardly had winter at all around here. A couple of days of snow frosting, but mostly temps have been in the high 30s to 50s since mid-December. That's not winter...

Guess we will just have to have a long talk with Punxsutawney Phil about his prediction!

Well, it's snowing here!! The Northern mountains in the state are well above 100% snow pack, most of which will end up in lake Powell. I visited lake Powell on vacation last month and it's still 100' low. Pierce Ferry hasn't been used for so many years, it looks like a ghost town, in bad need of a paint job.

It may even snow here in Tennessee this weekend. But one never really knows if it will rain or snow until it happens. Nashville is supposed to get several inches but it could go either way further south. Guess I better be prepared for whatever.

Hmm...guess we'll get rain here. I'd much rather have snow.

Yea, Our "snow pack" is quite low indeed around here Dan. About an inch or so! But is sure does make it feel like winter finally. It has been warm through January without much rian or snow. February is more like normal around here. Now where did I put my snowshoes?

Well Dr. Beaner......did any of you get some of this last snow storm? Looks like the East coast took a pounding with record snow falls. As usual, most of our snow melted off yesterday, with another beautiful sunny day. Another great weekend of caving gone by, along with sharing a beer or two with some of the local hikers in Williams Canyon. I hate to rub it in, but it sure is hard to beat the comforts of Colorado.

Madrat Dan Comforts? You mean y'all have corn squeezins out there in Colorado too? Just a horn or two will warm the innards and steady the nerves to boot! Why it's even been known to pink up them cheeks a bit too!

We don't really have corn squeez'ins here. Instead we cook barley to sell to the tourists for large amounts of money. They call them micro brews.

Well Dr. Beaner......did any of you get some of this last snow storm? No snow to speak of here, a little further to the south. We had some flurries, but they never amounted to any accumulation. I wouldn't have minded having a little bit on the ground for a day or so.

Madrat, Sharon actually answered your question pretty well. to answer directly however - Our blizzard consisted of about an inch of wet snow Friday that thawed out Saturday followed by a dusting Saturday night which thawed out Sunday followed by another dusting Sunday night which thawed out Monday. On the plateau to our east they got about 6 inches or so.
Maybe we'll have to trade some corn squeezins for some barley squeezins sometime he he!

(ducking down a hole, and pulling a big rock quickly over me to avoid the pummelling.) Gawd. I remember when people used to smuggle button-top Coors from Colorado. But I don't think I remember why.

Back in the day my parents would take cases of Coors with them on vacation to North Dakota. My dad would sell it to a cousin that owned a liquer store. The profits would almost pay for the trip. I never could understand why people wanted it so bad. It's still the worst tasting beer I've ever had.
Our micro brews come with names like Fat Tire, Laughing Lab, and Avalanche. We charge three times what a Coors beer costs, but the taste is three times better. I guess you could say......you get what you pay for.
