The only one I don't understand is Roasted Pecan Vinigarette. Is this a recipe for nuts, or salad dressing?
I'm not sure I *want* to know what is in Bill Halliday's Kilauea Cocktail. *|:-)

I'm not sure I *want* to know what is in Bill Halliday's Kilauea Cocktail. *|:-) What about the ingredients for Becky Zoole Elkana's, Pseudo Colada? Or Loyalhanna Grotto's Hop, Skip, and Go Naked? ;D

Actually, I've heard of and seen a Hop, Skip and Go Naked before, though I never drank one. A Pseudo Colada I can sort of figure out. But there are only 7 Google entries for Kilauea Cocktail, two referring to this thread or the original post...and none give a recipe.

Got my cookbook. Got the Kilauea cocktail recipe. I'm just a teensy disappointed. You see, I'd already whipped up a Kilauea cocktail in my mind. Ok. So let's make this one an
A-A Pahoe-hoe Cocktail
Serves A Lot of People
1 bottle Malibu cocoanut rum 1 fifth Bacardi white rum 3 large cans frozen orange juice 1 bottle grenadine one jar red maraschino cherries, chopped 1 bag little marshmallows 1 large can limeade 2-3 qts seltzer or 2 liters lemon-lime soda *your preference" 1 small can crushed pineapple 1 medium sized jar skinned macademia nuts 8 oz shredded coconut 8 oz bowl of Cool Whip A dozen or so earring/fishing lure sized red/orange cyalume sticks. Distilled Alcohol of cook's choice-- brandy works well--of sufficient proof it will burn.
In a large metal bowl, mix frozen orange juice, limeade, coconut, macadamias, crushed pinapple, Malibu and Bacardi. Reserve 1/4 cup shredded cocoanut. Freeze until semi-solid. Stir in grenadine, and maraschino cherries but do NOT mix entirely--result should be orange and red swirled. Return to freezer to freeze semi solid, but not like a rock. Soak marshmallows in brandy or other flammable liquor. Defrost Cool Whip.
Remove metal bowl from freezer about 3/4 hour before the party, being sure not to burn your hands on the cold metal. Artistically cover surface of frozen drink with an inch deep of Cool Whip, and reserved cocoanut. Add brandied marshmallows. Light. Blow out marshmallows when most are golden, and foaming, but allow a few to burn completely black. Activate cyalume earring lights and half bury them in the Cool Whip/marshmallow mixture so they glow.
Serve with an ice cream scoop into large tumblers partly filled with lemon-lime soda. Do not drink cyalumes, nor choke on macadamias. Do not serve to anyone under the age of 21.
If anyone actually makes this, let me know how it turns out. Looks like a volcanic caldera to me....*|;-)
