Cooper's Cave Platform OpensSOUTH GLENS FALLS -- The new viewing platform for Cooper's Cave, home of the fictional hiding site made famous in James Fenimore Cooper's novel "The Last of the Mohicans," opens today. The observation deck will be open from 8 a.m. until dusk, seven days a week, through Oct. 15. Nestled under the Cooper's Cave Bridge, which connects South Glens Falls and Glens Falls, a viewing platform with interpretive information has been constructed for visitors to view the site and to learn about Cooper and the Mohican Tribe's legacy in the region. The viewing platform is a cooperative project by the city of Glens Falls and the village of South Glens Falls. The entrance is on the South Glens Falls side of the bridge. Admission is free. For group tours, contact Alice Grether, the city of Glens Falls' director of tourism, at 761-3864. Post Star
