Cave trip shines light
Hazards, mud all part of learning how to face life's challenges
For Mountain Gap Middle School seventh-grader Alison Mason, crossing a crevasse in the recesses of a cave was daunting.
"I'm scared," she said as she faced "The Canyon" at Raccoon Mountain Caverns near Chattanooga. Visitors on a wild cave tour here have to step one foot at a time along a ledge. Underneath is unfathomable darkness.
