Coon dog stuck in Greene County cave
Travis Sturm's shoes have crunched a beaten path in the woods across from his home on Pitt Loop in Chuckey, Tenn.
"We stayed out here until one o'clock last night. I've been going five or ten times a day since Saturday," Sturm said.
It's a quarter of a mile journey to his destination, though distance is an after thought.
"I just hope we get him out alive," Sturm said.
"Him" being Sturm's 6-year-old coon dog named Sailor. The dog placed 8th in a national coon dog competition recently.
Sailor hit the woods Saturday night with one of Sturm's friends. The dog picked up a coon's scent and followed the smell inside a small cave. The determined Sailor crawled 100 feet down a 10- inch hole.
