Dec. 6 Talk Focuses on Rock Art in Crawford County November 13, 2007 Indians and their use of a rock shelter in Crawford County will be discussed at a Dec. 6 meeting at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. Jerry Hilliard will speak at 7 p.m. in the Echols Conference Center. His topic is “The Archeology of Rock Art at the Narrows: Specialized Native American Use of a Rock Shelter in Crawford County, Arkansas.” The Narrows is located just below a ridge crest east of Mountainburg, a site Hilliard has said is locally famous for its unique rock art panels of human figures. The talk is free and open to the public. Hilliard, who has a master’s degree in anthropology from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, has worked for the Arkansas Archeological Survey in several capacities since 1979. www.uafortsmith.edu/News/Index?skin=&storyid=1916
