Discovery of 105 Archeological Sites in LorestanTehran, 9 January 2007 (CHN Foreign Desk) -- Archeological excavations in the city of Poldokhtar in Lorestan province led into discovery of 105 archeological sites dating back to the Neolithic epoch to the Islamic period. Most of the discovered areas belong to the Elamite (3400-550 BC) and Achaemenid (550-330 BC) dynastic eras. Announcing this news, Ali Akbar Vahdati, head of the excavation team in Poldokhtar, said: “Based on our timetable, excavations in the vicinity of Poldokhtar are anticipated to be done in three stages, two of which have already been performed. During our latest studies in the region, we have mainly focused on the southern parts of Poldokhtar and around Kalmakareh cave.” Full Article
