Sinkhole opens on Central AvenueJennifer Turner Staff Writer jennifert@nwanews.com "BENTONVILLE — Fourteen-year-old Nathen Stines happened to look out his kitchen window Saturday just in time to see a 10-foot-wide circle of the backyard fall into the earth. " "Water Department employee Fred Clardy, who was an avid spelunker, explored the cave and reported back that it ran approximately 80 feet to the northeast and back to the west. Stines’ stepfather, John Dunson, used a ladder Sunday to climb into the massive hole and point out the limestone wall that broke in a near perfect half-circle on one side of the hole. “ I would like to dig it out and see what’s down there, ” Dunson said. “ I don’t know what the chances are there might be something historical down there. ” Dunson’s main concern is that the cave — if it is a cave — could continue underneath his house and cause problems in the future. I wonder if John Dunson knows about his local grotto and how to contact them? Is Fred Clardy NSS?

I did not see a Fred Clardy listed in the Members Manual.
If I lived in that area well I would be proud to check out the cave / sinkhole for them. ;D
