Raw Sewage Flows From Sinkhole Avoid Contact With Contaminated Water PORTLAND -- A broken sewer line caused a 10-foot sinkhole Tuesday near Southwest 69th Avenue and Garden Home Road. Sewage washed over several private properties and into a drainage ditch that flows to a Fanno Creek tributary. Warning signs were posted after several thousand gallons made it into the waterway. Through Thursday, everyone should avoid contact with tributary water downstream of the spill. The 30-inch, high density plastic pressure line carries sewage from the Fanno Pump Station on Southwest 86th Avenue to the intersection of 69th and Multnomah, where it enters the gravity sewer system. Crews shut down the pump station and redirected sewage to a Clean Water Services treatment plant while they assess damage and plan repairs. 10/5/2005 koin news www.koin.com/news.asp?RECORD_KEY%5Bnews%5D=ID&ID%5Bnews%5D=4809
