Hello all,
On many cave survey maps I noticed areas labeled "methane pool" or "lake". So far I havent seen one up close in person. I am assuming these result from surface debris washing in,decomposing and then the gas collecting in the bottom recesses of the caves. But I do not know for sure, just a theory.
What do these pools look like? How flamable are they? Should I avoid them? Could I be overcome by the fumes? Can you detect them with your sense of smell? Any info would be great!
