New here,
What is a good headlamp that throws a wide beam? I'm actually gonna use it for video taping and would like to have a 8 foot wide beam at about 10 feet.
Anyone know which headlamp might be a good choice?
Thanks
JJ

Welcome JJ, I recently got a Sten light S-7. It throws one powerful beam that should illuminate what you need at that range. It uses both a wide angle lens for wide lighting along with a spot lens for distant lighting. It is not cheap but it is quite powerful and versatile. For a caving light or any other serious lighting duty I recommend it highly. Compact, light weight, and powerful. go here for more info: www.stenlight.com

Thanks,
I am planning on using the light on the beach to film the grunion run. Not under water, but that never hurts to be waterproof. I would prefer one without a hard hat.
I will check them out and research.
I thought this place would be a good place to start.
Thanks, all suggestions welcome.

You might want to also take a look at the topic Cave Gear and Speleo Vendors on this forum. It has several light reviews and places to purchase them linked. Most of these items have been used by some of us and the vendors are the ones we use most often and trust.
hope that helps.

Can not go wrong with purchasing a Stenlight. Mine has been pounded by waterfalls, dropped 15 feet, and just last week I took it to the top of Mount Shasta (14,128 feet) where it was below zero windchill.
My digital camera and my digital altimeter both quit working due to the extreme cold, but my stenlight kept burning. In contrast to my trip to Mount Hood where my Petzl LED quit at extreme temperatures. Best light I have ever owned.
