Hello Folks, It's always nice to find active cave forums and this one is pretty awesome considering the wealth of information sharing, insight and experience that the members seem to have. No matter how many yrs. experience an individual has it's always nice to bounce ideas and and chit chat. Been caving for many yrs. from a long line of cavers but fairly recent NNS membership. Now I regret not having that resource though all those lonely years.

Welcome to the forum rptyd. What part of the country do you cave in?

I moved to eastern Ky. (Lee county) about 7 months ago from the s.w. but have caved in many areas of the country and out. I'm just now in a position to start some local exploration and am pretty amped about it.

I've met some good people in the grotto's in Tennessee. Have you joined a grotto yet or would you like help finding one in your area?

Welcome ryptyd! There are several KY cavers on the forum that occasionally post trip reports and share with the rest of us. Feel free to share your caving tales and ask questions as you need to.

Thanks for the welcome guys and actually I just joined Bluegrass Grotto, they certainly seem like a fine bunch of folks and their interests lie right up my alley w/ their conservation efforts. I'm going for my first cert. for cave rescue in April and taking some kids and their parents in the same month to the great saltpeter. Finally my time will be spent doing what I truly enjoy. I guess I'll be cooking a couple of breakfasts at the karst-o-rama too but that just means I get coffee first. I think I'm going to enjoy this grotto very much.

Well any experience with rescue techniques and situations makes you a stronger and well prepared caver. Enjoy it and the new friends you'll make in the Bluegrass Grotto.

Welcome to the forum RPTYD... Hope to see you in April. At least I am going to try to go to the rescue orientation class.
