Today Lynn and I, Bull and son Johnathan, Steve (Super-SPUD), Rodney and wife Trisha with their children Micah, Melanie, and Hunter all headed for Billy Stone Cave for a nice tour of the cave. After observing and photographing a large Owl in a tree near the entrance we headed in. We checked out the crawling stooping stream cave all the way to the back where some formations made for several photo ops of the groups and individuals. Lynn, Bull, and Rodney all shot several photos there among some nice formations. Soon it was time to go with the young ones leading the way out of the cave. The stream we were so careful to avoid on the way in became a fun place to cool off our feet in on the way out. Some of the shorter cavers opted to get wetter than the rest of us! The littlest one in the group started wearing out and was helped a bit the final hundred feet. The Owl was still outside but quickly flew off when cavers emerged form the cave! The heat was a bit too much so we drove off in search of nearby Cheshire Cave. After talking to the owner we all decended inot the entrance sink and large room to cool back off. This cave was not as long but we all toured it and took a few entrance shots as well as a few formation shots. The owners hound dog stayed at the entrance howling for us while we were in sight of her. She was old and short legged and got hung up on a root. I rescued her and she wisely headed further up the entrance slope to wait us out. Lynn got several shots of her posing for us. Soon if was time to go and we all headed out and parted ways. It was a fun trip for all of us. We'll all have to do it again soon!

Cave Bull, you took some nice pictures of the group's caving trip.
You captioned the owl picture as: "the owl, some one who knows, let us know what kind it is?"
Looks like a Barred Owl (Strix varia) to me. People will also refer to it as a "Hoot Owl".

We stopped by at Warren Springs owners house but nobody was home so we headed home. We'll try to contact him later. Fun trip. We enjoyed caving with y'all. Let's do so more often.

Hey Rodney, Those are some nice photos you posted but please reduce the big ones so our browsers don't open 2 screen wide! I actually had to use the slider bar to see all of some of them. Smaller would help. ;D

On one of your posts they look huge on both my Mac and PC here. I think you have to go back to imageshack and check the "resize image" button and choose the size 640 x 480 {for message boards} from the drop down menu. Do it for the post you made at 5:56 that starts out with "Here is a few of mine". The rest of yours are OK. Thanks!!

rodney, I could be wrong, but I believe that is called worm hole coral, its an impresion fossil of the tubes that used to house a worm like coral, its the closest thing I could find in my books that looks like it, any way, it could also be a bryozoa called sea mat,
