Very good story indeed. And to think we were so close to all that cave while visiting Cave of the Winds and never knew it!

Mikie, Kimmie, LP and I have been surveying Swirling Mist on Thursday nights. It's definantly a cool and large roomed cave for Colorado. I'm pushing Mike to enter the finished product in the Salon next year.
Next time you two are in the Colorado, we'll go check it out. Of coarse, your welcome to come and help survey this Thursday night.

Great offer Dan! We'll try to take you up on it. Hmmm Thursday night eh? Maybe one of these Thursdays we can make it over there. It's only a 22 hour commute or so if I recall!
Send some photos sometime. That would be cool.
Is it "Fat Tire" time yet?

The Williams Canyon Project of the NSS works in the canyon throughout the year, and welcomes visits from Society cavers from other states. In addition to Swirling Mists, trips can be arranged to other caves in the canyon, including the commercial Cave of the Winds, Huccacove, Narrows, Manitou and Breezeway caves.
In the 25 years of the project, over 70 caves have been documented in Williams Canyon, and the known caves significantly extended through excavation projects.
Discoveries are still being made in the canyon despite over 125 years of intensive exploration. Digging has been key in finding new passageways and caves since the first discoveries in the 1870s.

Hmm...the Thursday night offer is a little tough to make on a week night. ;D However, if the 2010 Colorado Convention works out, count me in.

Welcome to U.S. Cavers Forum Murph! Oh yes we still have a lot of caving to do! There are a lot of caves to discover and explore. But these days we just have to work a bit harder to get into them than the 'old timers' did.
