Artist's life forever changed after taking refuge in a cave Tumbleweed Smith, Midland Reporter-Telegram " I've known Worell for some time. He is one interesting character. He and Murchison took a canoe trip down the lower Pecos River years ago and were forced to take refuge in a cave because of heavy rain. Worrell saw some pictographs on the walls of the cave and his life was forever changed. He spent the next seven years studying pictographs, petroglyphs and rock art all over the world. The result is some striking sculptures of ancient shaman . His 10-foot sculpture in front of the Frank Howell gallery just off the plaza in Santa Fe is one of the most photographed objects in the country. Worrell is always thinking. He keeps a journal with him all the time. If he sees something at a restaurant that intrigues him, he'll get out his pen and write something. Or he might ask for crayons and do a drawing or design. If he stacks all the journals he has kept over the years, the stack would be taller than he is." Full Article
