Totally non-cave related topic: After watching my daughter run around in Crocs all summer, I finally decided to try a pair of these. I'd resisted buying myself a pair of these shoes, that I had called "plastic shoes with holes in them", but they are great; comfortable, lightweight and when dirty, just throw them in the wash for a few minutes and they come out clean as new. We now have 2 pairs of the Cayman style shoe and 1 of the Beach style. Anyone else wearing Crocs? www.crocs.com/

Totally non-cave related topic: Anyone else wearing Crocs? www.crocs.com/Well I have to say I love my Croc knock offs I wear them ever day even have been seen wearing them to Church on Sunday/Wednesday night. I found my at the Shoe Show. They are call Komoko's but they look just like the Crocs. I bought black so I could wear them on duty at the FD. I have wore one pairs bottoms slick and working on my second pair. I have 3 or 4 more pairs waiting since they had a buy one get one free sale. The knock offs cost about $15 at the shoe show. I am sure the original Crocs maybe more comfortable. Oh, they do float by the way.

Hey Tony, guess you and I are the only two Croc wearers here. ;D
You're right about the floating part. That's why they are so easy to wash, they float up to the top of the washer and you can pick them out after a couple of minutes and they are clean as new.

I've seen them. I just have visions of millions of pairs of Crocs in a landfill somewhere when they're no longer fashionable (nor biodegradable.)

We haven't purchased Crocs either but have noticed many cavers wearing them.
What are the crocs made of? I suspect plastic but am not sure....

I've seen them. I just have visions of millions of pairs of Crocs in a landfill somewhere when they're no longer fashionable (nor biodegradable.) Maybe they're made of recycled plastics? At least that would keep some plastics out of our landfills. Edit: I take that back - the website sez "made with croslite PCCR material" whatever that is?? More info here : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crocs shows that it is some sort of foam material that molds to ones feet thus being very comfy. Yes Azureana - they'll end up in landfills along with all the other plastic crap we waste every day. Yuk..

Or for the eco-friendly cavers Teva might be a good choice for footwear. Teva is recycling rubber and clear plastic bottles from previous landfill waste for the Teva Curbside Collection. And they have a cool slogan to boot, " Give Trash a Chance" . Check them out at www.teva.comTeva Video: The word Teva means Nature. Nature is about to speak.www.teva.com/about/tevaVideo.aspx?g=t&m=nature
