The owners of an awesome cave system located in central KY, known as Frenchman's Knob Pit, are seeking individuals or possiably grotto groups to purchase the land (consisting of 27+ wooded acres) to continue the preservation and possiably to market the same. The cave has attracted thrill seakers and cavers since the early 1800's. It is known as KY's deepest vertical pit and it requires the best equipment and most experienced caver to descend it's depths. More information can be found in the Journal of Spelean History Vol 18 # 3-4, also #58 July- Dec 1984--Frenchman Knob, the Bottomless Pit in Kentucky; George, Angelo; v18#3-4(#58) 1984 4 pgs. Correction to the previous post. -----------------------------------------
Please forward to other groups, lists, etc.
Frenchman's knob pit is approximately 184' deep and is no longer the deepest pit in KY, but it is the deepest in the Mammoth Cave region.
