Peanut Butter Recall A recall alert to pass along to you this morning. A Salmonella outbreak has prompted the recall of peanut butter. The recall affects Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter made at the Con Agra plant in Sylvester Georgia. The only jars affected have a product beginning with the number 2111 on the lid. 300 cases have been reported in 39 states. www.wkyt.com/wymtnews/headlines/5841921.htmlThis is great. One of the things I pack to eat after a caving trip or between trips.

Peanut Butter is our favorite caving food too! It appears we are safe from the Salmonella outbreak. We use Jif Peanut Butter! Now I understand why " Choosy Moms choose JIF! " ;D

I use Jiff too. Oddly enough, I'd fixed peanut butter and Golden Eagle syrup sandwiches (my daughter likes them) the night before this recall was announced, something I hadn't done in a while. These sandwiches are also great to carry caving for a high calorie snack.

I don't care for honey very much, but whatever works to keep the energy level up when caving. I found out this afternoon that my mother had two jars of the Peter Pan peanut butter with the listed recall numbers. She's thrown them out.

I don't get it? All of a sudden in the past year or so foods are becoming dangerous to eat! What are they doing in the processing plants that is so different? Maybe it is just a matter of cleanliness or the lack of a good disinfectant that the EPA has recently banned. I dunno. It sure is strange though. It is almost as if some of it is being done on purpose. Good thing you found the suspect Peter Pan jars and got rid of them. you could have saved them for someone you didn't like though he he.

Some news reports that the salmonella bacteria in the Peter Pan peanut butter # 2111 has sickened 288 people in 39 states. If you do find # 2111 on your shelf - here's some refund information. Mailing for a refund: ConAgra said consumers who bought the peanut butter in question can get a full refund by mailing the product lids, along with their name and mailing address, to ConAgra Foods, P.O. Box 3768, Omaha, NE 68103. For more information, call (866) 344-6970. Store refunds: Some retailers have agreed to give a refund if the customer brings the peanut butter back to the store where it was purchased. Full Article

One of the side effects of tainted peanut butter is the sudden urge to go underground. Does that urge come with twitching when you go down the road and see over hangs or feel sudden cool breezes on the face. ;D

Ummm .... I thought I was in the clear. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are another favorite cave food. Salmonella Probe Turns to Reese's Peanut Butter CupsFDA Still Trying to Trace Tainted Products The case of the tainted peanut butter is far from over, with investigators still trying to follow the trail of Salmonella infestation. One place that trail may lead is products not yet recalled, possibly including Reese's Peanut Butter snacks. Hershey, which makes Reese's products, insists it "does not source any peanut butter from ConAgra," which manufactured the infected Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter. ConAgra will not say whether the Reese's chocolates contain any of its peanut butter. Full Article

;D ;D Not too sure about the brain food part, but they are tasty little treats. If you ever see me lugging a Tuna around to get my daily recommended allotment of brain food, just go ahead and put me out of my misery. ;D How do you eat your Reese's?

How do you eat your Reese's? Now I may try to wait until the CSI completes the Salmonella Infestation Investigation but normally this is how I eat my Reese's. Remove the outer wrapper, then remove protective wrapper that covers each cup, then insert one cup in mouth enjoying the sweet, chocolate-peanut-buttery bliss until completely dissolved ..... Then Repeat! ;D ;D

I can't survive long without them. bob biddix Innermost Imagery www.innermostimagery.com
