The Cullman Grotto is planning a trip soon to Fargo Well and I was wondering if someone would please send me driving directions and a GPS point for this cave. See the TAG Closed Cave List... it states "The real landowner lives at the top of the mountain, not the bottom, and access must be given by him (this also includes Wils Welsh Well and Fargo Well). The friendly people at the bottom of the mountain do not own the hillside." The "real landowner" has a hunting on top of the mountain. The "armed" hunters are often in the Fargo Well area on ATVs. Sorry to spoil your plans.

To be more specific........If you visit the real landowners at the top of the mtn in non hunting season usually they will even take you down the mtn on the atv's. They are very friendly to cavers. I don't think they will give you access during deer season though.
You likely wouldn't have much fun at Water Well or Wil's Welsh Well this time of year anyway. They take mucho amounts of water during the winter and spring. The best time to visit is August or September, then they are just "sporting".
I was at Water Well last September and I thought one of my pals was gonna drown coming up the 123 foot entrance pit. It takes a lot of water all year around. As for Wil's Welsh Well, I went there 3 times before the water was low enough to get through the nozzle. The nozzle is impassable in even moderately wet conditions. We did finally bottom both cave last September and they were both rather wet top to bottom.
Fargo Well is a fine 200 fotter, usually drippy......
