My brothers and I have decided to buy a few things to help us in our cave trips. What kind of rope would be best for us to use for lowering or rappelling inside a cave?
Also while we are looking at getting a few things, I was wondering if there is a good headlight that projects a good beam of light. I have a Black Diamond LED head light and it doed ok, however when we are caving it seems it does project light very far and doesn't cut through the fog from our breath as good as my Pelican handlight does. I love the peilcan hand light, it is water proof, plus small. However it does like to eat the little aa batteries.
Any suggestions.
Can't wait to get to go caving again.
I think I got the fever. ha ha...

Also, check out any of the vendors listed in the Speleo-Vendors section for headlamp choices: Cave Gear & Speleo-VendorsMany of them will send you a product catalogue if you request and try to attend some of the upcoming Caving Events if you like having the hands on experience of "try before you buy". Headlamps are very varied in price and light output. You can spend anywhere from 35.00 to 300.00 dollars according to your lighting needs or preference. Both the Stenlight and Foxfury seem to be the preferred high end models of late.
