I had the chance to see the Rodriques fruit bats (Pteropus rodricensis) yesterday during a school trip to the Birmingham Zoo.The nine bats were surprisingly active and we were able to watch them taking pieces of fruit and greens from their feeding troughs and eat. These bats appear quite large, even more so when compared to native bat species. An excellent opportunity to view this non-native species.
