Hello everyone
The Spring 2006 MVOR will be hosted by Meramec Valley Grotto and the date is May 5, 6, 7, the first weekend in May. They have a little later date because they want to enjoy the springtime at Camp Zoe on the Sinking Creek in Shannon County, MO. Information will be found on www.mvor.org and will continue to be updated as the time nears. The pre-registration flyer will be out sometime in March.
After much discussion and input from fellow cavers, MVG has decided to concentrate on caving and to promote an event that is more "back to the basics", focused on cavers, caving, and speleology, since Shannon County is one of the premier karst areas of the Ozarks. Thus, there will be no registration FORM on the website, but all are welcome via current MVOR members or caving organizations. Of course, most of the usual MVOR attractions you have come to appreciate will be featured, such as the bonfire, howdy party, door prizes, a really nice tee shirt design, and caving vendors. In addition, MVG will have survey, orientation, perhaps sketching, and several other workshops, co operation with local agencies and landowners (ONSR, Pioneer Forest, Forest Service), and other such activities available in the area.
Something new this time, a talent show will be featured, and to encourage interest, the best door prizes will be offered to those willing to come up with the best talent display of interest to cavers. More details to follow on the website.
Feel free to distribute this information to your grottos and groups. For further info, contact Mark Andrich at elvisio@juno.com or Joe Sikorski at joesikorski@sbcglobal.net.
