After much deliberation and discussion and queries to/from those out of state. The Utah Grottos have chosen the site of the 2005 Rocky Mountain Regional to be in the Utah Valley area. The largest towns are Provo/Orem the nearest city would be Lehi. The website has pre-registration forms and photos and other information needed. www.caves.org/grotto/timpgro...gional2005.html
The site was chosen to provide a bit of variety from usual location in Vernal Utah. These are desert caves with a few nearby alpine caves. Some are horizontal and some are vertical in make up. The area immediate to the campground has a number of caves where it will be possible to see more than one in a single day. There is a very nice large diameter pit that the Utah Grottos use for training SRT, this will be near the campsite and all throughout the regional it will be made available for anyone wanting to brush up on their SRT skills and/or want to learn SRT for the first time. Different skill levels will be taught here.
There is a small cave nearby that would be perfect for those bringing small children along. More details on that coming soon. The regional date is the same being Labor Day weekend. The traditional Saturday night dinner menu is yet to be decided but will be (as usual) delicious and filling.
