Woah,
I've never been to an MVOR yet. Sounds totally righteous though! I gotta check the linkage out and see what's up wid the event. Man - is it me or is there way freakin too much to do in the fall? Maybe we all gotta get our socializin in before it gets cold and dark. Hey socializin with cavers is good Karma anytime! Dude I need like a social calendar this fall or somethin to keep up!

No, it isn't just you guanno. Fall is always a busy time for caving get togethers. For instance, this weekend alone is jam packed with caving related outings scheduled in TAG. * September 7-9 - PorterFest, hosted by the Southport Chronic Cavers Grotto of Columbia, TN will be held September 7 - 9, near Short Mountain in Cannon County, Tennessee, about 5 miles ENE of Woodbury. This event is open to everyone. You'll find plenty of room for tents, including raised wooden platforms to keep you off the ground, a cabin, a rock wall for vertical practice and old friends (and hopefully some new ones, too). BYOBB (Bring Your Own Beans & Beer) and come join us for a fun weekend of horizontal and vertical caving on the mountain. For directions, contact a grotto officer from the web site: www.caves.org/grotto/sccg/sccg.php* September 8 - The 2007 Alabama Cave Survey Meeting has been scheduled for September 8. It will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Scottsboro (Alabama) Public Library. The library is located at 1002 S Broad Street. That’s a few blocks north of Hwy 72 when you take the Broad Street exit (Hwy 279) as you get into town (or on the other side of town for those coming from the east). If anyone would like to do a presentation on a project or survey, contact Scott Shaw at nss30571@bellsouth.net * September 8 - Grotto Trip to ***** **** Cave. (Alabama)* September 8-9 - The first TAG Fall Cave-In Work Weekend will be held this weekend atop Lookout Mountain, (Georgia). Building of the Bonfire is scheduled for this weekend. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served for those who work. Rain date is the following weekend. * September 9 - Private trip to ***** ****** Cave. (Tennessee)Not necessarily a bad thing to have a lot of options, unless you'd like to be able to attend all of them (I would). But there are only so many hours in a weekend, so we have to pick and choose. Personally, I think we need four day weekends and three day work weeks. ;D

Basically its the 100th MVOR-- First one was sponsored by MMV Grotto in February of 1958, in a bitterly cold snowstorm, and we didn't want to repeat that mistake. It's also 50 years for MMV Grotto-- so it's a double celebration. Come on over, and we'll give you a big Missouri welcome!
