Blue Spring Workday III, Nov. 5th
The next installment of the Blue Spring Cave New Entrance Upgrade will be Sunday, November 5th at 10am. Please help us give back to a beautiful cave and to a wonderful land-owner and caver Mr. Lonnie Carr and family. The objective for this work day will be to further extend the path from the new entrance. Gravel will need to be transported into the cave and a base of larger rock laid down in a section of the trail that tends to stay wet more often than not. As I have mentioned before, this is in an effort to reduce the amount of mud being carried deeper into the cave by those that choose to use the new entrance as their starting point. Until this project is completed I would like to ask all to use the old entrance as their starting point in order to bypass the mud and reduce the amount of mud being carried into the cave. We had a wonderful turnout last time and I would like to continue the trend. Bring your caving gear as there may be a cave trip after the work is done. Maybe we can talk a few guys into showing us some of the new discoveries they've made. Thank you.
WHAT: Blue Spring Cave Work Day III
WHERE: Blue Spring Cave, Sparta, TN
WHEN: Sunday November 5th at 10am
WHO: all volunteers are welcome. we are in need of smiling faces and old caving stories so all you old timers better be there.
OBJECTIVES: to put down a gravel path leading from the new entrance.
WHAT TO BRING: YOU!!, a bucket with a strong handle, work gloves, your lunch, caving gear, and the desire to give back to this beautiful cave and the Carrs who have given us so much. Also, Mr. Tony Pugh has generously offered his expertise and pulley to rig a few haul systems to make the project more smoothly, but we need another graciuos individual to donate a sacrificial rope to be used in this process.
So grab that old dingy twisted rag you called a line from the 70's from the basement and give it a final a respectful end. And, if you happen to have a few tools that you may feel would aid in this project then bring them too. I know we may need a few shovels and maybe a garden rake or so.
WHERE TO PARK: Everyone please park on the same side of the road, preferably to left, as traffic must still operate along that road during the project. DO NOT PARK IN THE FIELD!! It destroys the grass that the cows need to feed on.
QUESTIONS/COMMENTS: contact me at paulmoser@hotmail.com
Please help us by spreading the word to all your grottos and caving friends. We need alot of volunteers on this day so all help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Paul Moser
