Repost from OVP, Cheryl Jones:
Access to the NSS Business Web page is now a privilege of membership. It is simple and easy to sign in, but the process adds a layer of privacy for our business matters.
Once a member is logged in to either the Business page or the Member Search, both pages will be available until the member's browser is closed.
The Current Personnel page and the corporate reports are available to the public through the "About the NSS" page. The reports are also linked on the Publications page.
Permission given to circulate this in the caving community.

Uh, why?
And why do we need privacy for our business matters.
And will information still be available after our browser is closed?
Strange.

Strange. Yup, Why? I read somewhere that non-profits should be open and accessible to their members and potential volunteers. < shrug>

Uh, why? And why do we need privacy for our business matters. And will information still be available after our browser is closed? Strange. I think the main reason is technical. To keep the spammer's email harvesting robots and people out while opening it to NSS members. So it is a balance. A little hassle for everybody, but much less than if your email address was posted publicly. Not sure I understand the question about after your browser is closed. A session cookie is set. So after jumping through the hoops, you can view and save anything shown. If you close your browser, next time you would have to do the same steps again. Joe
