Opponents of Eyota ethanol plant voice their concerns10/28/2008 By Laura Gossman Post-Bulletin, Rochester MN Most of the meeting was spent on testimony from citizens against the plant, and the board voted 8-0 to postpone its decision until its next meeting. The board will ask MPCA staff to collect more information about the karst topography, hydrology and water discharge to Bear Creek, basically throwing out the current environmental assessment worksheet. Members of her group explained the effects of a proposed plant to the board by bringing a cake designed to be a three-dimensional version of the site's karst topography, illustrated by gingerbread, and the different aquifers, illustrated by layers of frosting. It also displayed where schools, daycare centers and nursing homes are located in relation to the plant. Blevins said the cake was made by her son. Full StoryGood use of visual aid!
