Cool caves a great part of childhood memory

When I was a kid, we beat the heat by heading for the shadiest part of the woods. There, at the bottom of the valley, was Spruce Run. The stream didn't have much water most of the time, but there was enough to build a low dam, splash around in water a few inches deep and keep cool.
