Bridge Day to feature 300 rappelers

About 300 rappelers representing 22 organizations from 13 states and at least one Canadian province will descend on ropes from the New River Gorge Bridge during Bridge Day activities on Oct. 18.
A lottery held in June determined which rappelers would be allowed to ride ropes from the bridge's catwalk to the banks of the New River. Depending upon the anchor point each team is assigned, the drops can range from 700 to 850 feet.
