State, Walker County Preserving Huge Tract At McLemore Cove
The state of Georgia is purchasing 1,564 acres at the junction of Lookout and Pigeon mountains and Walker County is buying an additional 275 acres.
The state Board of Natural Resources approved the $8.3 million purchase on Wednesday.
The acquisition connects the 93-acre Zahnd Natural Area on Lookout Mountain with the 17,000-acre Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area.
