Sinkhole problem leaves sinking feelingBy: Janie Porter WTSP-TV (Tampa Bay ) Apr 28, 2008 Pasco County, Florida – A man and his family say they're stuck in a Port Richey rental that sits atop a sinkhole. Between deposits and utilities, Andrew Cochrac says he spent about $4,000 to move into a nice rental on Coventry Drive. A month later, his landlord called him and asked him to come over. “They were settling with the insurance company, and the check was for $103,000. And [the landlord] offered me a pamphlet describing the sinkhole on the property and how bad it was,” Cochrac said. He, his fiancé and their two kids were devastated. Soon, little problems in the house – such as uneven door jams, ceiling cracks and bad drainage – seemed to make sense. Cochrac's next-door neighbor has also had sinkhole problems. After noticing the water in his aquarium was uneven, Jackie Chance called his insurance company. Engineers were sent out, and Chance says they discovered two sinkholes. One of them, he says, is 60 feet wide and may run underneath Cochrac's house as well. More
