Also wanted to say even though the entrance to my cave was closed off by the city, some 60 yrs ago, it's still on my property and very much allowed or the new home owner/s to enjoy caving here. I spoke to the city of Alcoa yesterday and also the EPA. The city confirmed with me if the entrance is on my property, then I or the owner has 100% right to enter this cave. The EPA looked throughout their datebase for my particular address if it was on a cave list and it was no listed, eaither as a cave or unerground water way. Now of course I have no idea what all this means, but maybe you all do. I am putting her for sale as soon as I get back from Western Canada in May. Please wish me the best, I really need it. Thanks.
AND sorry if I am not the expert in this forum. Thanks!
Hi again:
If anyone has any advise thatr I could post my ad on another topic within this site, I would so greatly appreciate it. Many thanks is advance.
Hello everyone,
Within the last month I found out I have a cave under my house and it was suggested for me to post this here, because of all the cave enthusiasts here. I'll be putting my house up for sale in the middle of May, and thought maybe someone here may be interested in it for research, living, or both. I can tell you my house sits the highest on the block, there are rocks on the embankment, and I was told b the retired director of public works in my city that the cave extends beyond my property. The entrance to the cave is on my property but the city of where I lived closed it off, probably some 60 years ago.
So here it goes, I will post this and if anyone has any questions, or is interested or may know of someone interested to please pass along. I will gladly do my best to answer.
I do have a lovely home, by the way, built in the 1920’s and it’s located in Tennessee in Blount County, near the Smoky Mountains.
Thanks!
Stefanie
P.S Its funny, I actually saw a show about caves the other night on PBS, and also the other evening, I was speaking with my Mother's neighbor who also lives in this county and she said some universities/colleges were here a couple years ago taking rock samples because of their age and relation to the Smoky Mountains. It's all too ironic :-)
