FOUR C'S TREK: Saturday, Sept. 29, the Four C's Trek at Carter Caves State Resort Park in Olive Hill, Ky., a 7.5 mile loop over swinging bridges, views of Smokey Lake and the natural bridges and arches like Shangra La. Fee is $15. Call Coy Ainsley at the park to register at (606) 286-4411.
BEGINNER BACKPACK: Sept. 29, October 13, and Nov. 10, at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park. Cost is $75 includes all equipment, instruction and meals. Limited to 8. Call (606) 473-7324 or e-mail at claire.earnhart@ky.gov.
BEGINNER BACKPACK: Sept. 29, Nov. 2-4, and 17-18, at Natural Bridge State Resort Park in Slade, Ky. Each trip is about 8 to 10 miles. Participants must be able to walk this distance carrying at least 25 pounds. Cost is $75 and $125 for two night excursions. Includes all equipment, instruction, and meals. Limited to 8. ARCHES DAY HIKES: Dec. 1. Exploring Arch Country at Natural Bridge State Resort Park in Slade, Ky. Each hike is different, distances vary from 6 to 12 miles and from 6-9 hours. Cost is $15 for the first trip, $7 per person for each additional trip. Includes a guide, snacks or lunch, and Natural Bridge Trail Guide bandana. Limited to 10. We definitely have a few hiking trails in the area. Don't forget the Sheltowee trace trail. 200+ miles from TN to Northern Kentucky. Right through the scenic Cumberland Falls.
If anyone is a backpacker, let me know, we may have to plan a trek this fall.
