Saving a caveKnox News Sentinel (TN) Editorial Saturday, March 15, 2008 WE'RE PLEASED to see that the state is buying a cave near Crossville, Tenn., with bird-man creatures and other mysterious images carved or painted on the walls some 700 years ago. The state will pay about $2.1 million to buy and preserve the 385-acre Devilstep Hollow site. Jan Simek, a professor of science at the University of Tennessee, said it is one of only about 60 cave art sites documented in the Southeast. Full Story
