Courtesy of Deb Bledsoe.
Saturday, October 27th, from 9 AM til 12 PM or until we're done.
We will gather at the big entrance of Sinks of the Roundstone Cave (aka Mullins Station Cave, and clean the parking area and cave interior there, at a minimum. You may work above or below ground.
We will remove trash and debris, and mud-paint over spraypainted grafitti.
If enough folks come out, we will dispatch a crew to do the same at Climax Cave, so bring your spouse, kids, co-workers, scout troop, friends, neighbors, and/or church group!
You will need to dress for the weather and of course, bring your caving gear if you are going to work underground. We will also need sturdy bags/packs for hauling, nylon scrub brushes, masonry paint brushes, 5 gallon buckets, and shovels, rakes, prybars, and other handy implements. Suggestions, questions, comments - mail me, please.
Trash bags, loading, and dumpster will be handled by James Renner and crew, our Rockcastle solid waste coordinator. James set up the new recycling center in the county. At the last SOR cleanup cavers donated for the cost of a dumpster but this year James has agreed to cover this cost. This year if cavers would like to donate, we will use the money to purchase recycling containers for the center to use at public events and in the schools.
Know of another cave that needs work? Let me know and let's organize a cleanup there!!
Pass this info along to anyone you feel would be interested. Cavers ROCK!

I was going to, but checking my schedule I will be on duty during that day. I am however going up in October to take some grade school kids on a tour of the Great Salt Peter cave, with the RKC.

Cool. I've always planned to visit Great Saltpeter Cave but just haven't made it yet.
