It appears that cave insects are not treated with the same respect as larger cave dwellers. Bats are given much more leeway when discovered near proposed construction sites etc. I guess beetles are too small and insignificant as a species to get in the way of progress. It would be ironic if that beetle holds the key to curing some disease etc and we allowed it to go extinct before ever finding out.
