Posted by Larry Nov 25, 2006This coming Christmas season, the Southern Speleological Society, in collaboration with the cultural association, ETRA, will present a theatrical presentation beneath Piazza Cavour in the huge cavity and tunnels that houses the Naples Underground Museum. The presentations will be part of the citywide "Christmas in Naples 2006" festivities. There will be three presentations of a modern day Christmas play based upon life in the ancient Sanita' quarter in Naples. Each presentation will also involve a guided tour of the fascinating underground museum creating an interaction between actors and spectators. Elaborate manger scenes, or 'presepe' are featured all over the city as well in private homes in lieu of the traditional Christmas trees popular in the USA and other parts of Europe. The theatrical group promises their improvisational theatre "will involve the audience in an exceptional presepe!" Performances are scheduled for: Saturday, December, 9th at 17:30 hrs ( 5:30PM ) Sunday, December 10th at 11:00 hrs ( 11AM ) Saturday, December 23rd at 17:30 hrs ( 5:30PM ) Larry Rayby Napoli Underground
